The
Ontario Cancer Institute (OCI) is one of the three research institutes
of Toronto's University Health Network. University Health Network is Canada's largest hospital,
and a major teaching hospital of the University of Toronto. Located
at Princess Margaret Hospital, OCI focuses on cancer - its genomics,
informatics, molecular biology, clinical trials, signaling pathways,
structural biology, and biophysics.
Dr. Igor Jurisica is a scientist in the Division
of Signaling Biology at OCI. His primary research focus is on integrative computational
biology, and the representation, analysis and visualization of high dimensional
data generated by high-throughput biology experiments. Of particular
interest is the use of comparative analysis in the mining of different
dataset types such as protein-protein interactions, gene/protein expression
profiling, and high-throughput screens for protein crystallization. As
a member of CHTSB, he is working closely with colleagues in the High-Throughput
Screening Laboratory at the Hauptman-Woodward Institute to develop image
analysis methods for automatically detecting the presence of crystals
in crystallization screening wells.
